Position SummaryThe Human Virome Characterization Center for the Oral-Gut-Brain Axis (HVCC-OGB), a U54 NIH sponsored center, serves as a nexus for interdisciplinary collaboration across the UCLA School of Dentistry, UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) Institute for Precision Health, the UCLA Goodman-Luskin Microbiome Center, UCLA Technology Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics (TCGB), the UCLA Health System, UCLA Biobanks, the University, other Universities, including Baylor College of Medicine, the Mayo Clinic, and the NIH. The HVCC Senior Program Manager (SPM) is responsible for the direction, coordination, implementation, and completion of projects across the entire portfolio, while remaining aligned with strategy, timelines, and goals of the organization.The SPM responsibilities include the coordination and completion of HVCC-OGB projects on time, within budget, and within scope, oversight across all projects in the portfolio, as well as management and coordination with other PMs across HVCC projects. The SPM functions with a high level of independence in consultation with the HVCC-OGB Center Director. This individual serves as the liaison between the HVCC-OGB leadership, faculty, and collaborators, working with the implementation teams to ensure scope, goals, milestones, budget, risk, status, change requests, and critical issues are effectively implemented, and helps create project management processes specific to the HVCC-OGB.The SPM will collect feedback on potential improvements and discuss information and opportunities with HVCC-OGB leadership. The SPM plans, develops, coordinates, and evaluates key initiatives to advance the projects and programs across the HVCC-OGB. Under the direction of the center director, the SPM leads the projects within the HVCC-OGB program from start to finish by planning, goal setting, managing, and organizing the project teams and staff. Among the tasks, the SPM develops and implements ideas that improve engagement, translate current program issues into actionable plans, and increase collaboration and communication across all stakeholders.The SPM monitors key program performance metrics, is familiar with the work being done by the teams, performs quality checks, and monitors expenses. In addition, s/he is responsible for delegating the tasks for programs and projects to ensure that those tasks are completed on time by the proper delegates. S/he presents program risks, issues, and key decisions to senior leadership and facilitates discussions for proper resolution. The SPM collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure large-scale strategic priorities of the IPH leadership are met. S/he ensures up-to-date reporting on progress is provided to the leadership, including timelines and budgets, and issues are escalated to be addressed. S/he works closely with leadership to coordinate development and implementation of multiple complex initiatives. S/he helps recruit and train administrative staff for specific IPH programs while providing supervision to HVCC-OGB project staff. The SPM serves as a liaison between the center director and multiple teams working on several projects for the HVCC-OGB. S/he negotiates with vendors to ensure best practices and pricing for products and services and ensures that vendors fulfill their contractual obligations.Salary & Compensation*UCLA provides a full pay range.   • 5 Years Experience within science/health/biology/or STEM. (Preferred)
  • 5 Years Management experience. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge in general science or health-related field. (Required)
  • Ability to function at a high level of independence and oversee multiple high-level tasks. (Required)
  • Knowledge, skills, and ability with high-level writing and reporting with knowledge of all major office and scientific software for reporting. (Required)
  • Knowledge, skills, and ability with budget oversight. (Required)
  • Knowledge, skills, and ability with multiple levels of communication platforms, software, IT support. (Required)
  • Knowledge, skills, and ability to manage large data systems. (Required)
