Job Description:
AMDA College of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York
City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost post-secondary
performing arts colleges in the country. AMDA offers various
pathways for students to receive unparalleled performing arts
education taught by world-class industry professionals, including
Professional Conservatory Certificates as well as undergraduate and
graduate degrees (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts,
Associate of Occupational Studies, Master of Fine Arts and Master
of Arts).AMDA is seeking instructors with experience in any/all
styles of dance (ballet, tap, jazz, modern, ballroom, hip-hop,
contemporary, and historical/period dance) as they relate to
performance mediums for actors, singers, and dancers.Primary
Responsibilities:
- Instructing students in Eurythmics, primarily focusing on the
physical response to music, including recognition of downbeats and
pickups within a variety of meter changes.
- Providing creative instruction in accordance with established
curriculum, course outlines and class schedules.
- Create and maintain an environment that emphasizes learning,
encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking.
- Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters
and grading student work.
- Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and
ethics both online and in-person.
- Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a
part-time/temporary faculty member.
- Maintaining accurate academic records.
- Maintaining online Learning Management System (Canvas) and
utilizing it to sustain student engagement.
- Contribution to school community, including committee
participation, active engagement in required trainings and
initiatives, viewing student performances, and consistent
communication and accurate reporting.Qualifications:
- Master's degree (preferred) or Bachelor's degree (required) in
a related field; commensurate performance/professional experience
may be considered.
- Candidates should have relevant teaching experience in a higher
education setting.
- Experience with Canvas LMS preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and
interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in their
learning both in-person and online.Performance Credentials:
- AMDA differentiates itself from other performing arts colleges
by having students learn from "working faculty." Applicants must
have performance experience within the industry; preference will be
given to instructors with recent/current performance credits.
- Experience instructing Musicianship, Sight-Singing and Piano is
a plus.Position Information:
- The regular schedule for this role is based on department
needs.
- The pay range for this position is $40/hour - $60/hour. For
administrative tasks assigned or approved outside of classroom
teaching hours, payment will be at a standard hourly rate of
$35.
- This position is subject to a background check upon a
conditional offer of employment and a reference check.
